State of Health in the EU 2025: Country Health Profiles and Synthesis Report
The 2025 edition of the State of Health in the EU (SoHEU) is out now, offering a fresh picture of the latest developments in European health and health systems. Together, the Country Health Profiles and the Synthesis Report provide concise and policy-relevant insights for all 27 EU Member States, plus Iceland and Norway.
Now in their fifth edition, the Country Health Profiles offer policy-focused snapshots that support countries’ efforts for evidence-informed policy making. Each profile looks at:
· Population health status, including behavioural and environmental risk factors
· How the health system is organised, and how it performs in terms of effectiveness, accessibility and resilience
· A dedicated spotlight on pharmaceuticals
The Synthesis Report draws out common themes and findings from the Country Health Profiles and places them within broader reform trends. It highlights how European health systems are:
· Preventing noncommunicable diseases
· Accelerating the digital health transformation
· Strengthening primary care
· Promoting affordable access to pharmaceuticals and innovation
Grounded in a transparent and consistent methodology adapted to national contexts, the 2025 Country Health Profiles and Synthesis Report add a new layer to the SoHEU series, making robust, comparable and policy-relevant evidence more accessible than ever to those shaping the future of health policy in Europe.
State of Health in the EU is a flagship initiative of the European Commission, delivered by the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies and the OECD, in collaboration with DG SANTE.
Join us at 11:00 CET today for the live webinar launch of the 2025 State of Health in the EU.
