Our work is making a difference by positioning young people as integral partners in co-creating desired health futures that are equitable and inclusive. Universal health coverage matters in our communities because without high quality, accessible and financially feasible healthcare options, young people will remain exceptionally vulnerable to poor health outcomes and decreased livelihood.
The cohort of Regional Youth Champions (RYCs) from Digital Transformations for Health Lab contributes to the advancement of universal health coverage (UHC) by bridging youth voices to decision-making processes that shape health policy. With a diverse range of lived experiences and educational backgrounds, RYCs contribute to research, advocacy and partnership building in hopes of creating an equitable and inclusive health future that is grounded in Health for All values. RYCs are key partners in co-creating solutions that meet the health needs of young people. They support youth at the local and regional level to gain the capacity and skills in the digital, health and civic spaces to meaningfully contribute to the governance of digital transformations, ultimately positioning us to better achieve Universal Health Coverage amidst the digital transformation.
In hopes of achieving a more equitable and inclusive digital transformations of health and advancing UHC, RYCs focused on three areas of impact in 2025:
- Governance: shaping health policy through intergenerational exchange;
- Research: building youth-authored discourse; and,
- Network building: amplifying youth voices through partnership and advocacy.
RYCs have taken part in 70 different activities including 19 global and regional convenings with decision makers and young people alike. They authored nine different case studies, reports, journal articles and blogs. With a combined network of 40,000 they shared key messages, strengthened youth capacities, learned about their region’s health priority areas, and amplified opportunities for other youth to participate in co-creating our shared health futures.
