Protecting global health means standing up—boldly and unapologetically—when lives are at stake. We cannot allow political decisions to halt life-saving programs or abandon the world’s most vulnerable communities.
This year, TIME recognized Elisha on the 2025 TIME100 Health list, honoring the 100 most influential individuals in global health. Under her leadership, the Global Health Council has stood at the forefront of defending global health priorities. When the Trump Administration ordered USAID to halt critical foreign aid payments, Elisha led a bold response to protect access to health for all and life-saving global health programs. In March, she positioned her organization as a plaintiff in a landmark case that resulted in the Supreme Court allowing a lower court ruling to stand - requiring the U.S. government to resume those payments.
With decades of experience in global health advocacy, Elisha continues to champion issues that were once considered beyond question, such as universal health coverage and ensuring food for starving children. As the legal battle with the Trump Administration continues, she remains a steadfast advocate for sustained U.S. and international investment in global health.
