Preparing for Future Pandemics: From Fragmentation to Cohesion
This panel will discuss how emerging and established actors can work together to enhance global health security. The focus will be on practical strategies for improving pandemic preparedness and response through investment, policy leadership, and cross-sector collaboration.
Shifts in global power dynamics and changes in the funding landscape are influencing the way the world approaches health challenges, including pandemic preparedness and response. As some traditional actors reduce their roles, there is a growing need to diversify sources of political and financial support. This includes greater involvement from Global South countries, the private sector, philanthropic organizations, and sectors beyond health.
In line with the WHS 2025 theme, “Taking Responsibility for Health in a Fragmenting World,” this panel will discuss how emerging and established actors can work together to enhance global health security. The focus will be on practical strategies for improving pandemic preparedness and response through investment, policy leadership, and cross-sector collaboration.
