Shaping the Future of SRHR in Times of Crises
In the face of a severe global funding crisis for Reproductive Health (RH), with donor investments dropping dramatically, mitigating measures are urgently needed. While new donors are stepping up, a full recovery of lost funding is unlikely, and demand for RH supplies and services are steeply increasing due to population growth and a constant change of social norms in many Low-and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). Ideas on how to close the gap do not necessarily need to be new, but they might need a crisis like this to have a new chance. Will private investment help to create access, supporting a total market approach? How to mobilize domestic funding and give more decision power to recipient countries, even on a sub-national level? What can be the role of local manufacturing? How can country-led pulled procurement improve supply security? How can Artificial Intelligence (AI) be helpful? Should health programs become more focused, either on countries involved or health areas covered? Or is it a good time to double down on integrated care, thinking family planning and maternal & child health more closely aligned with primary care programs for women and families? We will discuss these topics from a global strategic view down to operational levels, when taking innovative partnership programs as example cases for the different options at hand.
