In an era marked by division, uncertainty, and mounting global threats, this year’s WHS Signature Event explores what it truly means to take responsibility for health — regionally, nationally, and globally. Structured in three dynamic parts, it examines how political will, leadership vision, and international cooperation can reshape the future of global health.
Part I – Health is a Political Choice
In today’s volatile geopolitical landscape, health too often slips from the global agenda. Yet investing in health is not charity — it is a strategic act of resilience. This segment explores why political leaders must deliberately prioritize health as a driver of economic stability, growth, and international trust. Participants will discuss how putting health at the core of policy strengthens societies, safeguards prosperity, and reinforces peace.
Part II – Health Security Leadership in an Era of Global Threats
As pandemics, climate shocks, and geopolitical crises converge, credible leadership and sustainable financing become the cornerstone of health security. With co-chairs of the reconvened G20 High-Level Independent Panel on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response financing, this discussion brings together leaders across institutions, regions, and sectors to define a practical path from identifying risks to taking action. The conversation will spotlight how to mobilize resources rapidly, accelerate regional manufacturing, and embed resilience into global and national health strategies – this has implications not only for infectious diseases but for all aspects of health.
Part III – Out of Fragmentation: Building Cooperation
Amid growing fragmentation, collaboration among nations, regions and stakeholders is our most powerful remedy. This final segment underscores the transformative potential of international partnerships grounded in equity, solidarity, and shared purpose. Looking beyond crises, it offers a forward-looking dialogue on how collective responsibility can foster health, peace, and global stability.
