Patient-led advocacy is essential to ensure that policies and systems are shaped by the people they are meant to serve.
Evans Majau is a passionate voice for people living with cardiovascular disease and other NCDs. His story is deeply personal: he lives with a mild aortic valve condition and intermittent explosive disorder, and is the father of a child born with a complex congenital heart defect. These experiences opened his eyes to the urgent need for stronger, more compassionate health systems, and set him on the path of advocacy.
He is the Programs Coordinator of the Kenya Mended Hearts Patients Association, a national network supporting children and families affected by congenital and rheumatic heart disease. He also chairs the Caucus of Patient Led Organizations on NCDs in Kenya and serves on the Board of the NCD Alliance of Kenya. In these roles, Evans champions patient-led advocacy, ensuring that policies and systems are shaped by the people they are meant to serve to truly make progress to UHC.
