Financial protection ensures that women and adolescent girls in Malawi receive much-needed sexual and reproductive health services without catastrophic costs. With declining donor support, to achieve UHC, Malawi must accelerate efforts to mobilize sustainable domestic financing and allocate more resources for health to ensure universal access and long-term resilience.
Hester has over 18 years of professional work experience which includes a combination of technical expertise, organizational leadership and senior level management in both international and local NGOs/CSOs including White Ribbon Alliance Malawi, GOAL Malawi, The Hunger Project Malawi and Concern Universal, now United Purpose. He has vast experience in holistic development spanning from health, HIV, Climate change, Gender, resilience, and population.
His work focuses on creating lasting health change through community-led and people-centered health systems. In 2025, he supported parliamentary engagement on health issues prior to the countreries elections. In 2024 he was awarded a prize of the best NGO by the President in Malawi.
He is a Fellow in HIV Leadership and Management with the College of Medicine, a constituent of the University of Malawi. He also serves as a Board Member of Council for Non-Governmental Organizations in Malawi (CONGOMA) where he chairs the Central Region Chapter.
