In humanitarian settings, financial protection is lifesaving. When we design financing that lowers out-of-pocket costs, we strengthen resilience and bring UHC within reach for the people who need it most.
Jakub significantly improved financial protection for health through his leadership in the UHC Working Group of the Global Mental Health Action Network. His work has ensured conflict-affected and fragile settings are considered in global health financing, advocating for conflict-affected communities facing financial vulnerability. He coordinated consultations with practitioners, translated their experiences into policy, and pushed for financing mechanisms to lower out-of-pocket costs in humanitarian settings. By fostering dialogue between global experts, local actors, and donors, he elevated mental health financial protection as a UHC priority. Jakub’s efforts have amplified overlooked voices and helped create more equitable, resilient health systems for at-risk populations.
