Let’s be the generation that guarantees health for all — because every life deserves care, and every young voice can lead change in making Universal Health Coverage a reality.
Dr. Lucía Pérez Gómez is a medical doctor from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a former Vice President for External Affairs of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA). In her global advocacy work, she has championed universal health coverage (UHC) with a strong emphasis on financial protection as a fundamental component of equitable health systems.
Through strategic engagement with governments, UN agencies, and civil society, Dr. Pérez Gómez elevated youth perspectives in policy discussions on health financing, social protection, and the removal of economic barriers to care. Her leadership empowered medical students worldwide to advocate for systems that guarantee access to essential services without financial hardship. By mobilizing youth networks and fostering inclusive policy dialogue, she contributed to strengthening the global movement for UHC and advancing fair health financing frameworks that protect vulnerable populations.
