Tangi Angwi

Health Journalist, Presbyterian Church in Cameroon

Universal health coverage begins with access to trustworthy information. When mothers in rural communities understand their health and their rights, they gain the power to protect themselves and their children.

Every message we broadcast brings us one step closer to a world where no woman or baby is left behind.

Tangi Angwi, Health Journalist, Presbyterian Church in Cameroon

Tangi Angwi, a.k.a. "Mami Ada," is a mother of three and a journalist who has channeled her own childbirth experience into a powerful mission, creating the radio programme "Clinic Time with Mami Ada" on CBS Radio.

Her programme is a lifeline, reaching over 6,000 people, with more than 1,500 active listeners in the hardest-to-reach rural areas of Cameroon. In a country where access to reliable health information can mean the difference between life and death, Tangi is bridging a critical gap to make tangible progress toward universal health coverage.

For over two years, she has partnered with organizations in her community that champion maternal and infant health issues, with volunteers serving as expert resources, engaging in vital on-air conversations on topics such as pre-eclampsia prevention, the availability of subsidised health campaigns, NGO free health drives, and health policy.

Tangi has now become a seasoned maternal and child health advocate, using her voice and journalism skills to create change. Her story has been recognized and featured by the PUSH Campaign for her impactful work. Tangi inspires us all to believe that our passions have the power to save lives and leave no one behind.
