Gastón Devisich

Community-engagement representative, Fundación Huésped, Argentina

Universal health coverage will only be meaningful when people living with HIV, men having sex with men, transgender people, people who use drugs, sex workers, migrants, and all those historically excluded can access care without stigma or financial barriers. My work has shown me that centering human rights and community voices is not optional - it is the only path to building accountable, equitable health systems that truly leave no one behind.

Gastón Devisich, Community-engagement representative for Fundación Huésped

Gastón Devisich serves as the Community Engagement Representative at Fundación Huésped in Argentina and is a former Latin America and Caribbean representative to the UNAIDS PCB NGO Delegation — a body that guides the Joint Programme through a rights-based, equitable and gender-responsive approach to ensure universal access to comprehensive HIV prevention, treatment, care and support. His work is strongly aligned with advancing universal health coverage (UHC), emphasizing the importance of rights-based health systems that leave no one behind.

He is strongly committed to advancing equitable access to health across the region, particularly regarding HIV, sexual health and human rights. In this context, Gastón actively advocates for removing financial and structural barriers that prevent key populations—such as people living with HIV, men having sex with men, transgender people, people who use drugs, sex workers and migrants—from accessing essential health services, underscoring UHC as both a policy priority and a lived reality. Gastón plays an active role in the design and implementation of diverse projects and, through his work, he has made a meaningful contribution to enhancing the participation and impact of communities and civil society in shaping health responses. His leadership reinforces the critical role of communities in achieving accountable, equitable and people-centered progress toward UHC.
