Ensuring health for all means a new social contract in health, where care, equality and solidarity become shared political responsibilities across all levels of governance. It means people-centred health provision.
Lee Jang-woo (이장우) is a South Korean politician serving as the 13th Mayor of Daejeon since 1 July 2022. He has previously served as a member of the National Assembly (19th and 20th) and as Mayor of Dong District in Daejeon before being elected city mayor as a candidate from the People Power Party. Under his leadership, Daejeon has focused on innovation, science-based economic growth, and international cooperation.
Since October 2025, Lee is the President of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), the world’s largest local government organization, representing cities globally. Mayor Lee signed UCLG's Local Social Covenant letter on Public Health , calling for a stronger engagement with local and regional governments, national governments, and the WHO and other international organisations to strengthen health provision and health in cities, a are integral to the advocacy around healthy cities and territories.
